Looking for the perfect crochet baby blanket pattern for an upcoming baby shower? I’ve got you covered! Introducing the Gender Neutral Arrow Baby Blanket Free Crochet Pattern!

It’s a popular trend nowadays for parents to wait to find out the gender of their baby-to-be until a big announcement is made at their baby shower. There are TONS of creative ways people do this, and I think it is just so wonderful to be able to share such a tender moment with all of your family and friends in such a fun way.

With gender reveal parties being more popular now than ever, it throws out the idea that baby showers and their accompanying gifts have to be the typical pink-or-blue color themes.

As fun as gender-reveal parties can be, it can be difficult to choose the perfect yarn colors and pattern textures for an unknown gender. That’s where this pattern steps in. πŸ™‚

The Gender Neutral Arrow Baby Blanket features a simple design (all half-double crochet stitches), as well as the perfect color scheme for both boys and girls. The trendy arrow silhouette at the foot of the blanket is also great for any gender and is easily formed by chaining over skipped stitches.

    Row 87-98: 44 yds Sunshine
  • Size 5.0 mm (H-8) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Size of Completed Project:

40″ x 26″ (without border)

Abbreviations and Stitches Used:

Beg – beginning
Ch – chain
Fhdc – foundation half double crochet
Rep or *() * – repeat
Sk – skip
Sl st – slip stitch
St(s) – stitch(es)
YO – yarn over

<< – indicates working row right to left

Special Notes:
  • Terminology in U.S. terms.
  • If you prefer to begin with a normal chain rather than a foundation chain, follow these steps: Ch 81. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and across. This completes Row 1 and you can now continue to Row 2 in pattern below.
  • Ch 1 at beginning of row does NOT count as a st.
  • Arrow sequence falls between Row 14 – 34, the rest of the blanket is worked in rows of hdc. (Super easy! πŸ˜€ )
  • Color changes occur at the end of Rows 11, 36, 61, and 86.
  • The <</>> at the end of each row indicates which direction you are working each row when looking at the graph. *These indicators are not included in every row. They are meant to guide and keep you on track mainly during the arrow sequence. Please be conscious of which direction the pattern is moving when working from the graph as it is crucial to the design.*
